  SOUNDSCAPES/PAYSAGE SONORES was originally released during the Biennale Montreal 2009 (BNL MTL). Curated and concocted by Claudio Marzano and Scott Clyke, the idea was an open source music project that put the course of creativity into the hands of the general public.
  
  It all started with Montreal artist Rick Leong. His painting Dancing Serpent in Dawn’s Quiet was a part of Rick’s MFA thesis at Concordia University, and was bought by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for its permanent collection. Montreal pianist/composer David Ryshpan was commissioned to create an original piece of music based on that painting, which was recorded May 15th 2009 at McGill University. This composition spawned countless re-interpretations and remixes generated from the piece of music over the following year, after the original recording, all it’s individual tracks, and even the sheet music were made available for the general public to download and work with. Select musicians, producers and DJs were also invited to take part in this great concept.
  
  This compilation contains some of the music we wanted to share with the public, along with our own remixes and the original song.
